Cheapest Skip Hire

Over the years it has become a popular idea to carry out repairs and renovations on your house. With an increase in numbers of DIY stores and the amount of television programmes giving advice and showing how to do much of the work, more people are carrying out their own alterations and repairs. Even though you will be saving a great deal of money by not bringing in professionals, you still do not want to waste money on over priced items such as expensive skip hire when you could be looking for the cheapest option.

While skips are a vital part of the rebuilding process there is no need to pay more than you need to just because you took the first price or quote you saw. There are a number of national companies who are likely to be available in your area while there will also be a number of small independent companies who will also be hiring out skips. By getting a number of quotes you should be able to work out which company will give you the best deal.

Cheapest Skip Hire Considerations

Some prices will just be for the hire of the skip and may seem to be cheap but check what is included. There are a number of questions you should check before you agree to hire the skip.

  • What size is the skip? One company may be offering a cheaper price but another may be offering a bigger skip. With the bigger skip you will be less likely to need to hire more than one.
  • How long can I have the skip? Skips can be hired for one day through to a week. It may work out cheaper to get some of the work done and have the rubbish ready to be loaded. The skip can then just be hired for a day and the rubbish can be quickly loaded, meaning there is no need to pay for an extra days hire.
  • Is the cost of the permit included? This may just be £10 or a bit more in some areas, but if you are a company and you need to hire a number of skips for different locations, the additional £10 to be added to each one can soon add up.
  • Discounts available. As an individual that may not be an issue, but some companies may quote a more expensive price for one skip, but offer a better price if you need to order in quantity. Also check if the price includes VAT. At 20% this can add a fair bit onto the bill.

Cheapest Skip Hire Prices

A lot of companies will not put a price online, but don’t be put off by this. The old saying “if you have to ask the price you can’t afford it” does not apply here as the reason for this will be competition. It can also be because there are a number of factors that need to be considered. For example if you live near to the depot, there may be a slight discount compared to someone located 50 miles away. A price that does appear online for some skips is £130 + vat for a 6 yd skip, so use that as a benchmark and see what sort of a quote you get.
