6 Yard Skip Hire
Depending on what you have to remove you may find that you need a 6 yard skip. A skip of this size is 4.6 cubic meters. This will normally be big enough to hold the rubbish from any garden work you have carried out or a small job around the house. Tests have shown that it will hold about 60 bin bags full of rubbish. A 6 yard skip will be 4’ high x 4’ deep x 10’ long so you will be able to decide if this is big enough to hold everything you need. You will be aware yourself what will not fit in and you will be told by the company you hire from what you cannot put in so the decision to get a 6 yard skip should be easy to make.
6 Yard Skip Hire Costs
Once you have decided this is the size you need, you need to work out the cost. This may be more than you expected so you will have to factor this into the cost of your work. All companies will have their own price but it is very likely that all the local companies will be charging pretty much the same amount. You could try asking for a discount if you think the price is high, but it may be more likely that this will happen if you are ordering a lot of skips or will be a regular customer.
Once you have decided to order a 6 yard skip you can expect to pay somewhere in the region of £115 plus VAT. You will need to say exactly what you intend to put in the skip as certain items may have an additional charge, or even may mean that a 6 yard skip is not what you need. As would be expected London and certain parts of Southern England will be more expensive. Down there you can expect to pay in the region of £135 plus VAT.
6 Yard Skip Hire Considerations
If you are intending to place the skip on the road you will need to contact your local council and get a license from them. It may be that your company will arrange this but it is your responsibility to make sure you have one. If some of the items you need to put in the skip are heavy it will be helpful to know that there are some skips that can have a side dropped so you do not have to lift the item over the side but can just wheel it along in a wheel barrow. Not all 6 yard skips are designed to do this, so you must make sure you request it when you place the order.
Duration of a 6 Yard Skip Hire
As this skip is meant for small to medium jobs it is not likely that you will need to have the skip for long. A service can be provided where the skip does not have to be left overnight but as long as you can load it in about an hour the driver will wait. This should be plenty of time to fill a 6 yard skip. |
